As a young child and being adventurous I remember playing in the mountains of sand that were behind the old stamp battery east of the township myself, my cousins, and just about every kid in the town at that time. I also remember fondly the rabbit shooting trips with my uncle, and my dad, down through the valley below the old stamp battery. I remember it very well, being nothing more than a swamp and infested with snakes, rabbits and just about every type of vermin you could think of, I might add not knowing any better, just about all the kids in the town swam in the dam right at the bottom of the valley.
