The area around RL2018 was recently relinquished by the previous EL holder on 24/11/2016. Steadfast Mining Services Pty Ltd applied for an EL covering approximately 117 square kilometres, stretching from South of Mt Egerton to several kilometres North of the Western Highway. (EL6417). Our application has been accepted and has been granted the highest priority over the area on January 6, 2017.
The statutory advertising for the application occurs on Wednesday January 25th.
One of the obvious benefits of this application, is that we will now have considerably greater scope for finding an ideal location (both environmentally suitable and also well away from densely populated areas so as not to inconvenience residents), for any future treatment and tailings storage facilities in the event that exploration activities on either the RL, (or eventually the EL if granted), lead to a mining operation.
Assuming that the application for EL6417 is eventually granted, we will also have significantly increased potential to find other mineral deposits of various kinds. Hopefully we will find that one or more of these hypothetical discoveries will be economic to mine, thus potentially giving a further boost to the local economy.
Residents of Gordon need not be too concerned about a potential mining operation in their backyard. We do plan to conduct mainly office-based research on the immediate Gordon area. We plan to research the whole area of the EL if granted, and we may also possibly do relatively minor on-site test work at Gordon in order to better understand the regional geology, but at present we do not envisage proposing or planning any mining developments within the Gordon township and it is very unlikely that we would seek to do so in the future.
